Volunteering at Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh

Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh is comprised of four distinctive museums: Carnegie Museum of Art, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Carnegie Science Center, and The Andy Warhol Museum.

Volunteer or intern with us to expand your horizons, meet interesting people, surround yourself with some of civilization's greatest achievements, and explore the amazing history of our natural world and its inhabitants.

Who can volunteer?
Opportunities exist for teens, college students, and adults of all ages. Volunteers work on the museum floors with the public and behind-the-scenes with curators, educators, scientists, and other museum staff. Volunteers assist in many ways, from interacting with children to conducting visitor surveys.

How to apply as a volunteer:
Placements are determined by matching volunteer qualifications, knowledge, interests, and availability with current opportunities. Once accepted, volunteers are required to provide and pay for background checks and clearances. Apply here.

Intern with us to gain experience in a museum setting!
Limited, unpaid internships are currently available at all four museums. For opportunities and requirements specific to Carnegie Science Center, visit this page.

How to apply for an internship:
All applicants must have completed at least one year of college or university and have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Applicants must submit an Internship Application, a professional resume, and a cover letter.  Applicants will only be considered if the application packet is complete. Apply here.
